On May 23, President Donald Trump released his full budget “A New Foundation for American Greatness, Fiscal Year 2018”. The 2018 Budget aims to balance our Nation’s spending and begin to reduce the national debt as a percent of GDP over the next ten years.
The National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) is joining with the Electrical Safety Foundation International (ESFI) to launch their annual Electrical Safety Month campaign in an effort to help reduce electrically-related fatalities, injuries, and property loss. This year’s theme is “Decoding the National Electrical Code® (NEC) to Prevent Shock and Electrocution,” which features resources to help protect against common electrical hazards.
1. Rep. Don Bacon (R-NE) recently introduced the NECA-supported H.R. 2350, the “Small Business Know-Before-You-Bid Construction Transparency Act of 2017.” This bill seeks to address various issues relating to change-orders that our contractors consistently face. Rep. Bacon’s bill was developed by the Construction Procurement Coalition, of which NECA is a member, and aims to address the length of time it takes the federal government to review, approve, and pay for equitable changes; the validity of payment assurances, such as payment bonds; and the timeliness of monthly payments.
